Takacs Quartet with Marc-Andre Hamelin
In May, 2012, Gramophone Magazine announced that the Takács Quartet was the only string quartet to be inducted into its first Hall of Fame. Combined with the talent and genius of Marc-Andre Hamelin, who recently received a lifetime achievement prize by the German Record Critic’s Award, this is a concert not to be missed.
The U.S. Supreme Court split 4-4 Thursday over a challenge to President Obama's immigration policy which sought deferred deportation for some 4 million undocumented immigrants currently in the United States. The split decision affirms the lower court ruling blocking its implementation after Texas and 25 other states sued, claiming the president had no authority to order the changes without Congressional approval. Under the proposal, illegals could remain if they meet certain residency requirements and have children who are American citizens or lawful permanent residents.
