Takacs Quartet with Marc-Andre Hamelin
In May, 2012, Gramophone Magazine announced that the Takács Quartet was the only string quartet to be inducted into its first Hall of Fame. Combined with the talent and genius of Marc-Andre Hamelin, who recently received a lifetime achievement prize by the German Record Critic’s Award, this is a concert not to be missed.
A Florida jury handed down a $23.6 billion verdict against R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. The lawsuit was filed in Pensacola, Florida, by Cynthia Robinson, the widow of a smoker who died of lung cancer in 1996. In addition to the $23.6 billion in punitive damages, the jury awarded Robinson $16.8 million in compensatory damages.
