Pope Francis, saddened by the slaying of an elderly priest during Mass in a church in the French countryside, warned Wednesday that the world is at war, but not among religions. Francis urged all nations to welcome refugees from war, hunger, and religious persecution and called for courage and compassion, as he starts his first trip to Eastern Europe where anti-migrant sentiments are rising, with many fearing Muslim refugees threatening their safety and national security.
