The American Civil Liberties Union is angry with Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe after they say he blamed the organization for the violence in Charlottesville last Saturday. The Governor contends the City wanted to move the demonstration out of downtown to an open field park but the ACLU threatened a lawsuit. ACLU places responsibility on passive law enforcement unable to ensure the safety of both protesters and counter-protesters, seeming to be waiting for violence to take place so they could declare an unlawful assembly and clear the area.
