Pittsburgh City Council is considering banning the use of wild animals in performances, outlawing Ringling Bros. and Barnum + Bailey and the Shrine Circus from appearing in town after 2016. Council President Bruce Kraus proposal prohibits the performance of wild or exotic animals for public entertainment or amusement…to protect them from cruel and inhumane treatment. Educational, research, rehabilitative venues such as the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium, The National Aviary and the Animal Rescue League Shelter & Wildlife Center would be excluded.
