Inspire Speakers Series
Join Phipps and Green Building Alliance (GBA) on the second Thursday of each month to hear from local and national sustainability experts as a participant in the Inspire Speakers Series. The special guest for the May 9 talk, entitled Defying Boundaries: Integrating Sustainability Practices, is David Orr (author, healthy building pioneer, environmental education expert and distinguished professor at Oberlin College). In a first-in-the nation program, Oregon will charge 5000 volunteer car owners by the mile rather than taxed on their fuel use. The program is meant to help raise more revenue to pay for road and bridges projects. Due to greater fuel efficiency, hybrid and electric cars revenues from gasoline taxes have declined thus limiting costly road and bridge repairs across the nation.
