The State House passed a bill reducing the time birth parents have to revoke an adoption from 30 days to two weeks after formal consent. Supporters say Pennsylvania’s adoption laws are archaic as many adoptive parents believe the wait too long and go out of state where laws are more favorable, leaving thousands of Pennsylvania children awaiting adoption. Bill opponents feel there's not enough consideration for the biological parent giving up the child and the amount of time they have to change their mind.
